Content Policy & DMCA

Last updated: June 20, 2026

This document is an MVP template. It must be reviewed and adapted by qualified legal counsel before MCP Store launches publicly. It is not legal advice.

1. Scope

This policy governs the content of MCP Store listings — names, descriptions, logos, documentation, declared permissions, pricing, and the behavior of the registered endpoint you operate. It supplements our Terms of Service. Remember that MCP Store proxies developer-hosted endpoints and does not host third-party MCP code; developers are responsible for what their endpoints do.

2. Prohibited content and behavior

You may not list, operate, or promote an MCP that:

  • is illegal, facilitates illegal activity, or infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
  • contains or distributes malware, performs unauthorized access, exfiltrates data, or is designed to deceive, phish, or defraud users;
  • misrepresents its identity, ownership, capabilities, permissions, risk, or pricing, or impersonates another developer, brand, or service;
  • targets minors, or produces sexual content involving minors, non-consensual content, or content that promotes self-harm, terrorism, or violent extremism;
  • harasses, threatens, or promotes hatred or violence against people based on protected characteristics; or
  • uses the gateway as an open or anonymizing proxy, or attempts to bypass authentication, metering, rate limits, or other controls.

3. Trust labels and transparency

Listings must declare their permissions and risk accurately. Unverified listings are shown as such and we will not present an MCP as safe when it has not been verified. We may review, relabel, suspend, or remove a listing that is unsafe, abandoned, fraudulent, or in breach of this policy, and we record administrative actions in an internal audit log.

4. Reporting abuse

Anyone can report a listing. Signed-in users can use the Report control on a listing’s detail page; you can also email abuse@mcpstore.io. Please include the listing URL, the reason, and any supporting detail. Reports enter our moderation queue; we triage by severity and may suspend a listing while we investigate.

5. DMCA copyright takedown

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and comparable laws. To file a takedown notice, send a written notification to our designated agent at dmca@mcpstore.io that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  • identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to locate it (e.g., the listing URL);
  • your contact information (address, telephone number, and email);
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

6. Counter-notification

If your listing was removed or disabled due to a DMCA notice and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to dmca@mcpstore.io including your signature, identification of the removed material and its prior location, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, your contact information, and your consent to the jurisdiction of an appropriate court. We may restore the material as permitted by law.

7. Repeat infringers and enforcement

We may suspend or terminate the accounts of developers who repeatedly infringe or who seriously or repeatedly violate this policy. Enforcement actions can include relabeling, suspension, removal, and account termination, and may be taken to protect the platform and its users.
